FAQ's
From the introduction to the book Life With Hope:
How can we tell you how to recover? We cannot. All we can do is share with you our own experiences and recovery through the Twelve Steps of Marijuana Anonymous. The Twelve Traditions are the guidelines for the fellowship of Marijuana Anonymous and the basic ideas, which unify our groups. Keeping in mind that our program is a living growing thing...
Who Are We?
District 7 of Marijuana Anonymous serves South Los Angeles County, California. Marijuana Anonymous is a society of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other so we may solve our common problem of marijuana addiction. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using marijuana. If you want to stop smoking marijuana, you are not alone. Our primary purpose is to carry our message of recovery to the marijuana addict who still suffers.
Why Marijuana Anonymous?
Many of us former marijuana smokers found that we were unable to stop smoking, even when it was harming our self esteem, our relationships with friends and family, and our futures.
Our lives, our thinking, and our desires centered around marijuana - scoring it, and finding ways to stay high.
We have found that in our joining together, we are able to SHARE OUR EXPERIENCE, STRENGTH AND HOPE with each other, enabling us to accomplish what we could not do on our own -- stop using marijuana.
You are not alone.
Who is Marijuana Anonymous?
MA is made up of thousands of men and women, from their early teens into their 70's. We come from all walks of life, races and religions.
We are people who share similar experiences and feelings.
MA is a 12-step program which began in California in 1986. It has grown into an international fellowship, reaching across the U.S. and as far as England, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.
You are welcome in MA regardless of your means, use of other drugs or alcohol, emotional difficulties, or any other outside circumstances.
While MA meetings are often held in church community rooms, we are not affiliated with any sect or religion.
We are here to help.
