Where: East Canyon Trailhead, Santa Clarita Woodlands Park,
24255 The Old Road, Newhall, CA 91231, 15 minutes north of Van Nuys

Trail Conditions: Well maintained, single-track and double-track trails
Hike Type: Out and back
This hike feature many stream crossings, three species of oak, California bay laurel, California black walnut, and bigleaf maple, up in elevation to a unusual forest of bigcone Douglas-fir. Magnificent views of Santa Clarita Woodlands Park and the Santa Clarita Valley. The trail leads into the 500-acre Michael D. Antonovich Open Space Preserve which straddles the ridgeline of the Santa Susana Mountains. At the top of East Canyon, the trail joins the Marge Feinberg Rim of the Valley Trail where it intersects the Weldon Canyon Motorway and other trails from Bee Canyon and O’Melveny Park.
Directions: Take the 405 North to the 5 - Exit Calgrove
Turn left and go under the 5 -- Bear left as Calgrove turns into The Old Road -- go just under 1 mile and park on right by East Canyon Trail Signage. (34.350445,-118.546023)
